Day 4, We have to set new goals

Day 4 Spending $0
Day 4 Savings $478

Total Spending $0
Total Savings $1607 🙂 🙂 🙂 in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have met my savings goal already and it has been 4 days… New goal $5000!!!!I have no doubt we can do it, especially since I have not even put our income into savings yet.

Savings came from:
Rolling spare change, I duped poses, cup holders, drawers et. And rolled $78

Hubby went and scrapped metal with a friend, he earned $634.27, they split the copper (friend stripped it so they would get better price). Hubby kept $400 smackaroos

Ways we saved:
*we had friends over for nachos, they brought dessert.
We cleaned house and lounged around while daddy cleaned the yard

Day 2 and 3 Getting the hang of this

Day 2 Spending $0
Day 3 Spending $0
Day 2 Savings $14
Day 3 Savings $1050

Total Spending $0
Total Savings $1129 🙂 🙂 🙂 in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some things we did to save money:
*Made chicken fried rice for dinner using leftover rice, carrots, corn plus fresh chicken and frozen broccoli
*We gave away some storage cabinets to the neighbors who in turn will be giving us some milk in a few weeks, gotta love trading
*Car pooling, never did this in the past, so hard with 3 kids, but my buddy has 4, so we car pool to preschool and on Friday from elementary, Thanks Girlie
*Oh, and if you know me, you know that I love eating our, no dishes, alas we turned down eating out with friends. Opting for maybe cooking at our house

And the BIG news is…
My sister in law is getting MARRIED in 2 weeks!!! SO I made her invites for FREE!!!
I had some bulk ribbon left over and we bought some clearance paper back in August before these nuptuals were announced. I have left over big envelopes from making Open House flyers back in May.

So here they are:

I whited out her address

Where savings came from:
Day 2- Found some cash around the house
Day 3- *Let me know if you want to do this too*
Angelo opened a bank account a few months ago when they were offering a $500 Visa gift card. Then they said I could open one also and would get the last $500 gift card for the promotion (Now they offer $200- still GREAT) SO he received $25 for referral, I received $25 for being referred. Yeah $25 and we didn’t have to deposit anything to open accts!!!
Within 30 day I need to make 10 bill pay payments for over $25 each. Back in August I did Hubby’s by taking our $300 electric bill and splitting into 10 different payments of variable amounts. Done, no fees, no charges and we will receive $1000 in Visa gift cards in November!!!

If you are interested, I can give you more info, this is not a crazy scheme, real bank, real banker, real money and real VISA Gift Card!!!!

Day 1- Slim down and Bulk up

Whew, day 1 was harder than i thought.

I forgot to mention another goal I have, use that gym membership, eat healthier and keep loosing weight. I lost 50 lbs from 11/09-6/10 then gained back 10 lb over summer. I would love to lose 30 lbs by X-mas. I.e. “Slim Down”

Oh and “Bulk up” that savings account. Could you imagine if we could do $50 a day? That would be $1500! I have so many plans, sell old clothes, sell stockpile stuff, sell some of those couches, roll spare change, collect old debts, have a garage sale, the list just goes on and on.

The hubby had a no seatbelt ticket in downtown Houston, i.e PARKING FEES

But alas, in a round about way he left with $20 for parking and came home with $35. Lol, if you know the hubby he has his own way of following the rules. So he car pooled with the other no seat belt wearer (Bad, Bad) he paid parking, his buddy bought the other guy breakfast, the other guy put $5 in a slot machine, and the hubby won $15 and brought my $20 back (YAY!)

And he had the ticket dismissed, funny enough he had been wearing his seatbelt, dropped his phone under pedal and unhooked in the u-turn lane where a kind policeman was watching to write him a ticket. But we also know a very kind policeman who helped get it dismissed.

So here are a few things we did to not spend money:
*Made breakfast at home- Organic waffles bought with coupon and rebate offer click here
*packed lunches
*Made dinner- Pork steaks, white rice, french bread, fresh corn, buttered carrots, homemade cheesecake
*Car pooled to pre-school, she took my son
*Walked to Elementary, took 3 bottled waters, soooooo HOT!
*Sold $30 in stockpile to go to savings (The hubby has lots of bachelor friends that love to get all their grooming products from my cabinet)

Spending on Day 1 $0, adding to savings $65, Total spending $0 Total to savings $65

August 31 fridge

Sunday the Hubby said, “What exactly is the plan?”

I said, “Don’t spend any money in September!”

My extra food storage beyond the pantry

Lol, but really there are a few “points”

*Spring and Summer are very fruitful for our businesses, winter is one extreme or the other 🙂

*Save money for the slow times and build up our savings, kids college, and vacation accounts

*Learn new habits, like free activities, cooking dinner every night, having people over vs going out, analyzing our income vs. expenses

*Sell STUFF!!! Like the 3 very nice living room sets (we have 1 living room)

I hope you enjoy watching our little experiment 🙂

Last Day of August- Mixed emotions

Last vacation to San Antonio, just me and the kiddos

August has been a wirl wind month. There was VBS, vacations, school shopping and of course school for all 3 kids. My oldest is in Elementary, middle in Pre-school and the baby is in MDO 2 days a week.

Here are a few things we have done to get ready for “Spend Free September”
*Grocery shopping- total spending was $430.00 for the month of August not bad for a family of 5
*I need to “fill up” the car tonight
*I have paid all of our monthly bills for September, ie. gas, water, electric, preschool, dance
Anything left unpaid, will be paid in October, ie. Cars, house- they are due on 23rd so they will be 7 days late, still in the grace period
*Let the house keeper “go” for the month, we’ll miss you Rosie! (she comes 2xmonth)
*Kids got hair cuts,($10 each) hopefully the Hubby goes tonight or he’ll be really shaggy for October (he is usually pretty shaggy)
*ordered diapers from 2 boxes of 176, one for $.53 and one for $10.53 shipped
*Had our “last meal” out on the 30th at C@sa Ole, 99 cent kids meals
*Ordered vinyl and transfer tape for my cricut, gotta have something to do 🙂

First Day of School 2010

Kroger Deals 8/11/10- 8/17/10

Here are the deals for Kroger for the week of 8/11/10-8/17/10

Thank you HotCouponWorld

I have updated the pricing to reflect My Houston Area Store

The most important thing to know is most Krogers will only take 3 of each coupon, so sometimes you have to mix them up by printing different varieties, or mixing printables and newspaper.  If you don’t get the newspaper, there are tons of clipping services and ebay.

Save $4 wyb any combination of 8 participating items.

This means, in order to get the listed price, you must by in quantities of 8, not 8 of each particular item, but eight of the participating items.  (Suggestion: I usually put 8 extra Powerades in my basket, I have the cashier hit total before the powerades and then after each one, until it takes off another $4.  This way I know that I have bought in quantities of 8 and take full advantage of the sale, plus the Hubby loves his drinks)

Also, you can combine a loadable card coupon, ie. Kroger e-coupons, cellfire and shortcuts/ with a printable or newspaper coupon.

How do I?

Hello Blog world, Here is my first shot at this…

I have decided that my family is going to have a spend free September.  That means no eating out, no shopping (I have not decided if I will be able to do my deals), no candy from machines, no drink stops, no nothing.

But… I have not decided how exactly to put this into motion.

During the rest of August, I am going to set dome goals and analyze our past spending.  Hopefully we will be able to put a nice wad of cash into savings.

I need to decide what I need to stockpile and what I will allow to be purchased during September.  Like milk, bread, fresh fruit, etc.  How will I pay for these items?  Will I alow a budget or will I need to return things or barter with friends/ family?

Ahhh and my deals.  It seems silly not to stockpile the September deals at Walgreens and CVS.  Should I only do freebies and money makers?  Could I use my money makers for milk and bread?

So, I am depending on all of the blog world to help me out.  I need suggestions on how to make September work and how to make this blog more functional, ie what is a widget?  and how do you use it, lol
